Mary E. Hess is Professor of Educational Leadership at Luther Seminary, where she has taught since 2000. Her scholarly and pastoral passions lie at the intersection of faith formation and media culture. A Roman Catholic laywoman, she has presented her research at national and international conferences, workshops and festivals. Mary teaches courses on religious education, adaptive action, missional leadership, and the theological and cultural dimensions of social media technologies.
DIGITAL STORYTELLING AS FAITH FORMATION
People all over the world are experimenting with the creativity and collaboration that digital tools make possible. These same tools can bring faith formation to life. In this workshop, we’ll focus on digital storytelling in two ways: first, as a way to support people learning and telling their own stories of faith, and second, as a way to engage commercial digital stories through the lens of faith.
